Abstract
The performance of this new algorithm was evaluated by extensive simulations. Extended-aperture algorithm was developed based on vector-hydrophone linear array to improve the accuracy of DOA (direction of arrival) estimation. Experiment of vector-hydrophone linear array composed of three vector hydrophones was conducted at SongHua Lake of Jilin Province to test the validity and applicability of the proposed algorithm. The experimental results indicated that higher resolution for DOA estimation could be obtained using enlarged aperture vector-hydrophone linear array than conventional beamforming. Direction-finding precision of source become higher as the intersensor spacing increasing keeping the same elements.
