Abstract
The resource reservation protocol (RSVP) can provide QoS due to its bandwidth guaranteed capacity. However, RSVP faces many challenges in mobile IP networks. In this paper, we propose a set of extensions such as employment of the reservation message, utilization of teardown message and extension of the mobile IP message to optimize the operation of the RSVPv2 protocol in mobile IP networks. The suggested extensions are then simulated in an open source simulator NS-2. Simulation analysis has shown that the utilization of the proposed extensions is able to efficiently manage the reservation states in different mobile networks scenarios.
