Abstract
Thomson Sintra Activites Sous-Marines (TSASM) is working on the development of a new deep water multibeam echo sounder (MBES). This new generation multibeam echo sounder uses the latest signal processing techniques as well as new technologies not only for the transmission and reception arrays but also for the signal conditioning circuits. The originality of this echo sounder lies in the fact that it constitutes an integrated system designed for bathymetric investigation, imaging and seabed characterization and also includes a narrow-beam Sub Bottom Profiler (SBP). The TSM 5265B is the first item of a new generation of multibeam echo sounders
