Abstract
This paper describes the simulations and experimental results of the border and placement effects on individual array elements including the frequency and electric response of the plate-ceramic set when bonding the ceramics at different positions from the border of the plate. Images of defects showing the dead zone, made with a linear piezoelectric array with eight 7 times 7 times 0.5 mm square piezoelectric plates bonded on a 1.1 mm thick aluminum plate at different positions, are also shown. Finally, the simulation of the cross coupling decrease when using 2-2 piezocomposite square plates, and its corresponding experimental measurements, are also included and compared with standard piezoceramic plates. Finite Element Modeling is performed using PZFlex
