Abstract
Synchro-Phasor data concentrators (PDCs) are key elements in the realization of Wide Area Monitoring, Protection, And Control (WAMPAC) technology. Currently, there are two ongoing standardization efforts in the IEEE surrounding the application of PMUs and PDC This paper presents latest activities in standardization of WAMPAC systems, and design and implementation of synchrophasor data concentrator. The implementation issues, such as Time-sync clock lost at PMU, missing phasor data frames, handling multiple input data rates and latency from PMUs, etc. with data concentrators are discussed, and various solutions are proposed.
