Abstract
In this paper, effect of speech coding on the performance of speaker identification system is presented. Experiments were performed with G711, G726 and GSM-FR standards coding algorithms. Results are shown for the mel frequency cepstrum coefficients (MFCC) as feature set and polynomial classifier of 3rd order approximation for modelling of speaker. The experiments were also performed for mismatch in training and testing conditions (training with wireline and testing with coded speech). The results of these two approaches were compared with conventional wireline speaker recognition systems.
