Abstract
This paper covers the use of a tap delay line equalizer run as a matching filter to improve delay detection. Comparisons are drawn between frequency and phase modulated pulses over several de-modulation schemes to determine delay times. Use of the equalizer is shown to offer improved range resolution or signal separation in an idealised case and superior imaging performance over a differentiated Gaussian pulse in a two target simulation.
