Abstract
A modification of the (n+1) switch power converter topology for star-connected switched reluctance motor drive applications is proposed, which is suitable for low speed as well as high speed operation. A freewheeling circuit with a dual time constant has been designed to reduce the current tail in decreasing inductance region, which reduces the negative torque and improves the system efficiency. The different modes of operation of the power converter is discussed, and a comparison is made with the (n+1) switch power converter topology
