Abstract
The crew rostering system is an expert system deployed at Indian Airlines. The system plans the schedule for all crew operating from a regional base of the airline for a specified period and also handles the situations which demand a revision of these schedules. An innovative scheduling strategy has been used as the model. The authors describe this model, which is generic for this class of scheduling problems. The development methodology adopted for the system is also presented together with the lessons learned
