Abstract
Thanks to digital signal processors (DSPs) and wireless technologies, software modem radios for the 2G and 2.5G have already been implemented (Reed, 2002). In a software radio, we aim to combine several wireless communications protocols and reduce the radio frequency (RF) processing stages. Mapping digital signals to different wireless channels or protocols combined to advanced RF transceivers are fundamental functions in a SW radio. In this paper, we propose a DSP based GFSK software modem implementation using a look-up table and describe the inherent impairments due to the RF stages.
