  • Abstract
This study presents a hierarchical-based Cluster Elliptic Curve Cryptography Key Management (CECKM) method associated with multi-mode secure data transmissions in WSNs. The proposed scheme depends on Diffie Helman Problem (DHP) of Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), and exploits a smaller key size to achieve comparable security levels than Rivest Shamir Adleman (RSA) and Diffie-Hellman (DH) cryptosystems. CECKM implements asymmetric key cryptosystems on WSNs using ECC, and provides a dynamic, rapid and efficient key synchronization mechanism in numerous sensor nodes without reconfiguring the entire key system when sensor nodes participate in or depart from WSNs. The proposed scheme is highly suited for dynamic and large-scale WSNs.
