Abstract
A dualband coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed planar monopole antenna suitable for WLAN application is presented in this paper. The antenna resembling as a "G" shape and optimally designed by using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm can produce dual resonant modes. Prototypes of the obtained optimized antenna have been constructed and simulated using the Zeland\´s FIDELITY package. The measured results explore good dualband operation with -10 dB impedance bandwidths of 22.6% and 12.6% at bands of 2.57 and 5.53 GHz, respectively, which cover the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz WLAN operating bands, and show good agreement with the numerical prediction. Also, good antenna performances such as radiation patterns and antenna gains over the operating bands have been observed.
