  • Abstract
    In this work an efficient numerical approach, based on a suitable full-wave unit-cell analysis of arbitrarily-shaped printed structures, is applied to accurately characterize Electromagnetic BandGap (EBG) filters able to improve performance in Active Integrated Antennas (AIAs). In particular, a precise control of impedance values is obtained for harmonic tuning by means of properly designed tapered microstrip-line elements. A synthesis procedure for a microwave transmitter with specific constraints is thoroughly carried out, which emphasizes the accuracy and efficiency of this technique.
