  • Abstract
    With the advancements in information technology, electric utilities are capturing a significant amount of data and information about their distribution facility to support planning, design and operational work processes. A new method of describing the electric secondary distribution system by using transformer secondary circuit archetypes and load characterization based on customer consumption is presented. The proposed method has been implemented on a pilot area of the local electric utility, and the results validate its effectiveness. The proposed method is useful for energy loss calculations, voltage drop predictions, and optimization studies.
