Abstract
In this paper the performance of the secondary users (SUs) in an overlay cooperative cognitive radio network (CRN) with imperfect sensing is analyzed. Providing reliable communication for the SUs in CRNs requires elaborate considerations in various functionalities of the network. Here, a practical structure for the network is considered in which the cooperation among the SUs is taken into account to improve the reliability of the secondary data transmission on wireless fading channels. Furthermore, an efficient spectrum scheduling scheme is proposed which can effectively manage the data transmission for the SUs. A queueing framework is proposed to analyze the performance of the SUs in the network. Furthermore, the effects of spectrum sensing errors on the performance of the SUs are studied. The analytical results are also verified by simulations.
