Abstract
The increasing demand for voice and data communications, with a practically unpredictable growth in the number of potential users, leads to a continuous search of alternatives to implement system access. One of such alternatives is the use of Wireless Local Loop (WLL) systems. In this paper, coverage distance obtained for some WLL systems, using standard propagation models and considering different environments, are compared. Additionally, considering the use of WLL systems for fixed wireless access, the influence of the subscriber unit antenna directivity in the coverage distance is also analyzed
