Abstract
In this paper, we propose a two-stage image fusion approach that includes both arithmetic and fuzzy logic-based fusion methods to enhance the detection of stationary targets in through-the-wall radar imaging applications. An automated non-uniform image registration technique is also introduced to geometrically align the acquired images before fusing them. The performance of the proposed methods is evaluated using real data in which registration and fusion of images obtained using different polarizations is performed. Experimental results show that the proposed method enhances image quality as well as image contrast, and improves target detection.
