Abstract
Electrets play an important role in large area electronics. The chosen examples in this review range from gate dielectrics, nonvolatile electret memories, flexible electret sensors, and compliant piezoelectrics for energy harvesting. It is the author\´s believe that many new applications of such "old materials and effects" will be discovered: Electrets have a long history and a bright future.
