Abstract
With the legal inforcement of European EMC norms, the inventory of emission and immunity tests for civilian equipment is now fully complete, as well as a decent mastering of their procedures. However, when one compiles and compares them, many contradictions appear. This paper reviews the major test methods of the IEC/EN norms, showing where discrepancies are and suggesting harmonizations. This aspect is especially important in the reduction of testing time and costs as well as in view of the trends for standardization that are seen between military and civilian EMC test methods
