Abstract
This paper introduces various PWM techniques that are widely used for switching IGBTs and MOSFETs which are common in inverters. With proper understanding of these pulse width modulation techniques, we are able to reduce switching and conduction losses thereby efficient operation can be achieved. In this paper, three of the most commonly accepted controlling techniques are discussed and concepts being developed. Simulation results are verified by the experimental results. Experimental results are taken by firing a three phase inverter using dSPACE1103 at Power Electronics lab of our college. The purpose of this experimental set up is to develop a better understanding of the various firing techniques for the graduation students.
