Abstract
Pulsed power devices are required for a variety of future mobile and static military systems. The range of requirements imposes different design criteria on the type of device chosen. The criteria are established and the best options evaluated. For relatively short timescales a rotating machine has been selected as a contender and a design study initiated. For long and short timescales pulsed magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) is being pursued in a variety of formats, for both single and multiple pulsed outputs.
