  • Abstract
This paper re-explores first-principles machine design by implementing continuum electromechanical models with Mathematica symbolic software. It is shown that the algebraic complexities previously impeding the application of the theory to many-layered structures are removed using this software. A double-stator linear induction motor (LIM) is used to verify the model´s accuracy in predicting force density in an electric machine. Experimental force density-slip curves match theory for several air gap widths. A ten-layered structure is analyzed to illustrate the software´s ability to implement the model
