Abstract
The authors introduce simulation and modeling, explain what it is, and give examples of their applications in the manufacturing environment. The demand for improved design and performance evaluation procedures for manufacturers to stay competitive is considered and how simulation modeling supports this need is pointed out. The steps for conducting a sound, useful simulation study are also discussed.<>
