  • Abstract
Wireless sensor networks based on the ZigBee technology was designed and deployed in the chemical plant. Because of the complex indoor environment in the chemical workshop, the method of positioning through GPS signal is hard to reach. This paper proposed a low power consumption, low cost ZigBee scheme which can overcome the disadvantage above and extend the battery life of the devices. Enterprise Ethernet and RS-485 field bus was used as data transmission network. The data collection system included several network coordinators, reference nodes and blind nodes which using the TI´s CC2430 and CC2431 modules. During the disaster like chemical explosions, the rescuers could get the exact location of the staffs who work in the workshop. A SVM-based approach also was presented in this paper, which uses SVM model to help location-based system to improve the accuracy of positioning.
