  • Abstract
    Selection of appropriate type of valve and closing time is done through the cognitive process known as decision-making, which involves the interaction of different inter and intra communication levels. The cognitive process starts with the calculation of the steady state operation conditions of an already designed pipe system. However, the installation of a control system that requires the installation of different kinds of control valves demands the understanding of the transient phenomenon of the flow inside the pipe system. This understanding acquires a very important category when the pressure levels related with the type of closing of each valve could produce damage to any of the elements of the system, representing a potential hazard to the industrial installations or environment. The inclusion of proper transient studies is normally considered to be in advanced levels, probably due to its relations with numerical methods and also with the complexity of this phenomenon itself. The effective communication between humans and artificially cognitive systems by programming allows achieving the selection of the best possible valve option to fulfil the operation condition of the system.
