Abstract
The development and acoustical characterization of a novel agar-based tissue mimicking material for use in training purposes in diagnostic ultrasonography are presented. The phantom described in this study is based on a range of inexpensive, reproducible and non-toxic materials. During the tests, the effect of the physical properties such as temperature and percentage of materials on the sound speed in the fabricated phantom was evaluated. Additionally, the analysis on the results of ultrasound imaging was represented.
