Abstract
The authors present work carried out as part of the RACE project `AMMIS´ (Advanced Man-Machine Interface for digital TV programme Selection). This work is addressing the design of a user interface for programme selection and interaction, emphasising its usability. To date, the project has developed two prototype user interfaces: prototypes 1 & 2. Prototype 1 concentrates on the issue of navigation through a large number of broadcast services. Prototype 2 explores the interaction within a small set of interactive services. The authors present the context of the work, the inputs to the interface design specifications, description of the two prototypes, and the preliminary results of the first round of user testing
