Abstract
A full-reference method of color image quality assessment using a spatial extension of CIE DE2000 and cortex transform decomposition is proposed. Our test shows that CIE DE2000 tends to overestimate the visibility of distortion without emphasizing structural information due to lack of spatial vision consideration, whereas visible difference predictor shows also its insufficiency in predicting relatively smaller differences. Inspired by VDP and previous S-CIELAB works, we try to extract the most important visible differences using the proposed approach, and the map of distortion resulted shows a better correlation to the subjective qualities.
