Abstract
Neutral inductance of shunt reactor is an important component of shunt reactors. In this paper, the operating characteristics to suppressing frequency resonance overvoltage and reducing secondary arc current is elaborated. And the value of the neutral inductance should be determined according to the degree of compensation of the shunt reactor. So some research on the controllability of neutral inductance of shunt reactor is done. The results indicate that its value should be determined according to the maximum degree of the compensation of the shunt reactor, and not need to be set in controllable form, which narrows the range of the power regulation of the shunt reactor and requires high level of insulation of the neutral itself.
