Abstract
WATM Networks support several types of traffic stream including data, voice and video with different QoS requirements. Due to the effects of fading, multipath propagation and interference, the wireless link is characterized by a higher and more variable error rate. This has necessitated error control coding for WATM networks in order to insulate the ATM network layer from wireless channel impairments. In this paper, the nonsystematic turbo codes is introduced to WATM networks as the convergence behaviour of nonsystematic feedback convolutional encoders showed that these encoders can be used as constituent encoders in a parallel concatenated (turbo) coding scheme. We have simulated the BER performance for WATM networks
