Abstract
Systematic investigations of pulse generation using gain-switched DBR lasers have been performed at 5 GHz and 10 GHz. The pulse width is less than 40 ps for both repetition rates and remains constant over the 13 nm tuning range of the device. The optimal condition to generate the pulse is defined by the cavity mode position inside the Bragg filter.
