Abstract
This paper looks at recent initiatives that use of the radio teleswitch system (RTS) as a true DSM tool, and describe developments in the broadcasting system to increase the data capacity of the system overall. It looks at the application of the RTS in the context of competitive supply and energy efficiency, in particular the potential applications of a national data broadcasting network for communicating with groups of customers within a competitive UK electricity supply framework after the 1st April, 1998
