Abstract
A straightforward method of determining the small-signal, open-loop frequency response of any switchmode power supply (SMPS) has been developed and has been implemented in the SPICE-2 simulation program. In this method, a SPICE-2 transient simulation of the SMPS is excited by multiple discrete-frequency generators and the desired small-signal transfer function is obtained by analysis with an enhanced discrete Fourier transform. The power of the method lies in its ability to perform direct analysis of discrete-mode systems which are not easily linearized.
