Abstract
Current source converters are the state of art in high power applications featuring several advantages such the simplicity in the topology, the regeneration capability and the capacity to produce sinusoidal input currents. This converter features a very weak damped LC filter in the input, whose resonance frequency can be excited by the control and harmonics of the mains. In this work a new predictive control scheme is presented, which operates the rectifier at very low switching frequency and can generate sinusoidal currents with unity power factor and low distortion. Simulation results are presented in order to validate the proposed scheme.
