Abstract
In our paper we present a comparison between multiband time-hopping impulse radio and multiband OFDM ultra wideband (UWB) systems. For the time-hopping impulse radio we consider the multiband time-hopping pulse amplitude modulation UWB system that uses Hadamard sequences to distribute power of a single information bit to all the available subbands. In the multiband OFDM UWB system we use interference suppressing OFDM in place of conventional OFDM to mitigate the effects of narrowband interference. We investigate bit error rate performance of the two UWB systems in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise, multipath and/or multiuser channel and narrowband interference. Numerical results obtained from extensive simulations will be included in the paper to support our analysis
