  • Abstract
We feel that colors and sounds exist in outer world. However, they are our subjective sensations as virtual reality. Materials really present in outer physical world are objects that release physical quantities such as electromagnetic (EM) and air waves. Hence the usual theory that sensory system executes equivalent transformation of physical quantities cannot explain our sensations. Instead, I propose a new theory that sensory system works as keyboard instrument, where physical quantities play keyboard to create colors and sounds as virtual reality. EM and air waves of various frequencies released from objects play the keyboard (receptors) in eyes and ears, which generate action potentials on discrete paths, traveling to target neurons in the brain. When target neurons are excited, information innately stored in these cells is expressed and we feel that objects release various colors and sounds, which accurately reflect physical world
