Abstract
Transient discharge is a perspective source of non-thermal plasma for ignition and flame control in variety of applications, including gas turbines, rocket engines, burners, furnaces, fuel reformers, etc.. Due to relatively low temperature and power consumption from 10 W to 1.5 kW non-thermal plasma sources provide such advantages as dramatically extended lifetime, excellent volumetric and gravimetric parameters, powering by conventional DC power supplies, and do not need cooling even in case of continuous operation. Transient discharge allows both liquid and gaseous fuels feeding into the arc chamber without soot formation for reliable ignition, partial oxidation and further process control. This presentation will provide recent results of plasma igniters, plasma pilots, plasma fuel nozzles development, experimental investigations and implementation.
