  • Abstract
    The Machtey Award for Best Student Paper: The program committee of FOCS 2012 gives the Machtey Award to Nir Bitansky and Omer Paneth for their paper "From the Impossibility of Obfuscation to a New Non- Black-Box Simulation Technique." This award is given annually at FOCS to the most outstanding paper written solely by one or more students. Best Paper Award: The program committee of FOCS 2012 gave Best Paper Awards to Julia Chuzhoy and Shi Li for their paper "A Polylogarithimic Approximation Algorithm for Edge-Disjoint Paths with Congestion 2;" and to Tsuyoshi Ito and Thomas Vidick for their paper "A Multi-prover Interactive Proof for NEXP Sound against Entangled Provers." 2012 ACM SIGACT, IEEE-CS Knuth Prize: The ACM Special Interest Group on Algorithms and Computation Theory (SIGACT) and the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on the Mathematical Foundations of Computing (TCMF) jointly bestowed the 2012 Knuth Prize to Leonid Levin. Dr. Levin gave an award lecture on October 22, 2012. The Knuth Prize is presented annually to an individual for outstanding contributions to the foundations of computer science.
