Abstract
In a statistical signal processing parameter estimation problem, ambiguities are generated when there is not a one to one mapping between the object space and the measurement space. The ambiguity problem is investigated using differential geometry concepts and a theoretical framework is proposed for the classification, identification and calculation of ambiguities, associated with two application areas, that is in array processing and in the harmonic retrieval problem
