Abstract
Digital reading brings more conveniences to our life, but at the same time, it brings more worries to the copyright owners about copyright infringement. Digital reading or sharing the files has to be legal and fair use according to the copyright laws in many jurisdictions including China. Google is a private owned corporation. This article discusses Google´s plan- Google Book Service (including Google Book Search and Google Library) and analyze what the Google Book and Google Library are and their legal controversy in the copyright area, and the difference between “Google Book Search” and “Google Library” as well. This article assumes “Google Book Search” and “Google Library” are parts in the entire “Google Book”. In addition to using “the Google Book Settlement” and China´s Copyright Law to solve the controversy, we hope that we can find a better way to balance the right and benefit between users and copyright owners.
