Abstract
Our country is vast in territory and the geological environment is complicated. The nature geology conditions that influence the development of geological hazards are complicated and diversified. China is one of the most serious earthquake disasters in the world. This paper mainly investigate the application that the geographic information system in assistance decision and emergency command, talk about how to use geographic information system to calculate disasters damage area after the earthquake, and combine GPS with RS, talk about the role of GIS in earthquakes. we use gis to establish buffer zone for disasters damage area to rational allocation of resources. This study demonstrate that we can save a lot of time in earthquake with GIS.
