Abstract
Experiment on aluminium tubes (Al 6061) with varying cross-head velocity and tube length has been performed to investigate the rate of energy absorption. The test was carried out under axisymmetric concertina collapse mode as per ASTM E8 standard. The load-displacement data were recorded and depicted in graphical form. The rate of energy absorption was analyzed and comparison between different parameters was made. It was found out that the amount of energy absorption was increased at low cross-head velocity and by increasing the tube length.
