Abstract
The problem of coding the low-entropy information sources is considered. Since the run-length code was offered by Shannon (1949), it is known that for such sources there exist coding methods much simpler than for sources of a general type. However, the known coding methods of the low-entropy sources do not give possibility to reach the given redundancy. We present a new method of low-entropy source coding permitting us to reach any given redundancy. The proposed method needs almost the same memory of the encoder and the decoder as general methods, and the speed of encoding and decoding is much higher
