Abstract
A novel analog zero voltage switching (ZVS) closed-loop controller for bi-directional high frequency galvanic isolated DC-DC converters in high performance power supply applications, has been proposed in this paper. The DC-DC bi-directional power flow scheme is based on comparing the closed-loop power demand with a reference power with the intention of generating phase shifting (power) angle between the dual active full bridge (DAFB) PWM converters. Direction of power flow can be forward or backward depending on direction of power command to the control board. A detailed simulation study of the system, supported by experimental steady state and transient results, is presented to validate the proposed technique. System performance is found to be excellent.
