Abstract
In this paper, propagation modelling of electromagnetic waves at VHF inside the forest is presented by using parabolic equation method. Solution of parabolic equation using split step Fourier algorithm requires high computational demands, so finite element method is propose here which is more accurate and computationally efficient. This method can be used in case of irregular terrain, multi-layer forest model and range dependant propagation in the forest. Results are compared with well known Tamir´s results. It can be seen that wave propagation in forest can be solved by using parabolic equation method. Use of finite element method gives efficient and computationally efficient solution of the problem
