  • Abstract
    This paper derives the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) expression of the template averaging based differential receiver for impulse radio communications. The insight revealed by the expression leads to a better differential receiving method, which improves the receiver performance under dense multipath environment. This method is simple and does not require the complex synchronization mechanism of coherent receiver. Matlab simulation shows that the BER (Bit Error Rate) is significantly improved with proper template parameters.
