Abstract
Designing an efficient routing algorithm is a crucial issue in LEO satellite networks for optimizing network resources. Priority-based adaptive shortest path routing (PAR) algorithm is a promising technique which was shown to provide high throughput and low delay without any need for signaling overhead. In this work we propose a deflection routing mechanism to be used with PAR. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated for various system parameters through simulations. Simulation results show that the proposed deflection routing approach is promising for low-to-moderate traffic loads, but it fails to improve performance for high traffic loads
