Oil-filled switchgear-enforcement aspects

As a result of concerns raised regarding the ageing population of oil filled switchgear and its condition, the HSE decided to set up a project to focus attention on switchgear with a view to ensuring that appropriate action is taken. This type of equipment is not getting any younger and the HSE foresaw an increase in serious or fatal incidents. The project and how it was carried out is very briefly described. The legislation covering maintenance of switchgear and the actions to be taken by users of ageing HV switchgear are outlined
