Abstract
Coordination of MIMO transmission across multiple cells can effectively reduce cell-edge interference. However, downlink multi-cell MIMO transmission requires additional channel state information at the cooperating base stations compared to the single-cell case. Therefore, reducing the feedback overhead is an important issue in multi-cell MIMO systems. This paper proposes an adaptive feedback interval control method for multi-cell MIMO systems which is shown to provide a significant overhead reduction compared to existing schemes while ensuring an adequate channel state information update rate at the base stations.
