Abstract
This paper presents a method for the detection of eccentricity in inverter-fed induction machines, based on wavelet analysis of the stator phase current. The Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) is used for the detection of specific frequency components that indicate eccentricity faults in a machine. More specifically, the modulus information of CWT is used for the extraction of the "faulty" frequency components. The obtained simulation and experimental results confirm the ability of the proposed technique to accurately identify the "faulty" harmonic components of the stator phase current due to eccentricity in asynchronous machines.
